NASTY BIBLE SONG. Three Bible psalms are so nasty, you'll probably never hear anyone read them in church. Here's one. I'll read it for you. Try not to think of any political leaders in particular. Yeah, see if that works. In Israel, they often say, "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem." Here, we might want to pray for the peace of America. Photos by Pixabay. Bible prayer for rotten leaders.

THIS IS A PSALM CATHOLICS SKIP when they read through the Book of Psalms for their private devotions.

But many would say it’s the perfect psalm for American political leaders today.

Bible prayer for rotten leaders

Launching a lethal, failed coup in Bible times, got at least one wannabe king hung by his hair in an oak tree and used as target practice for a general.

“As Absalom was riding his mule [fleeing a lost battle with King David’s army], it went under the thick branches of a large oak tree. Absalom’s head got caught in the tree, and his mule ran out from under him. So Absalom was left hanging above the ground… Joab [King David’s general] took three spears and stabbed him in the heart” (2 Samuel 18:14 New Century Version).

Not a recommendation.

Just a little trivia from history about political accountability 3,000 years ago.

Absalom was David’s oldest son and presumed to be the next king.

Solomon became king instead.

Peace, be still

Jesus had a unique approach to dealing with chaos, corruption, and murder…a really odd approach for his time, or ours:

“You’re blessed if you’re a peacemaker because people will recognize you as a child of God;
They’ll see the resemblance” (Matthew 5:9 Casual English Bible).
