I WAS WORRIED about a new video I released this week, Two reasons I believe in God. I was worried for several reasons.
- I felt that some of the content was uncomfortably personal.
- And there’s the humor, which is not always well received…or artfully delivered.
- I had concerns about the lack of production quality. I struggled with the green screen technology that allowed me to drop into the background any images or videos I wanted. I didn’t like the quality of the audio, either.
I struggled with both of those for days. I did the best I could, but I wasn’t pleased with the result.
I seriously considered dropping the video.
Yet, I thought the underlying message was important.
Eventually I decided to put my money on the message, hoping it would carry the viewers up and over the problems that worried me.
No one has yet mentioned any one of the problems. When I asked my video mentor about the technical glitches, he said he couldn’t see them through the tears.

Speechless in Who Knows Where
“I am speechless! I just told the LORD spiritually I am weary… tired… I started deleting many emails out of my Gmail and I felt like I needed to undo yours but I let it go. As I scrolled and kept deleting… I went to the trash bin and clicked on the video… Only GOD knows the language of tears! This video just sent my spirit soaring! May the LORD continue to bless and cover you!”
Following at 1 a.m.
“I am in my bedroom. It is 1:17 a.m. I just watched this video and i get it. I believe in God and Jesus. I have for most of my life…when i asked for help in my dark times… he helped. I think if you saw me or even passed by me you might not want to ever talk. I do not go to church. I have not read the Bible because I don’t have one…I think I am still lost.”
My reply: “If you believe in God and pray, you’re following…even if it’s just for a good night’s sleep sometimes. How can you be lost when you’re following him? Keep following. You’ll get where you’re going and you’ll be glad to be there. I expect to see you there. We’ll talk then, if not before. Now go to sleep. God bless you and keep you safe and give you happy dreams.”
Following’s reply: “You just made my day. I will see you there. I love God. Every time I think about it I smile inside.”

Why is it, I wonder, that some of the things we’re most afraid of doing or saying are the very things we most need to be doing or saying?
