OOPS. I forgot to write today’s blog article.
It’s pushing 8:30 p.m. as I write this, and the article posts at 6 a.m.
I haven’t eaten supper yet. The wife left three hours ago for her job as a night-shift nurse. So it’s just me and Buddy the Dog. And two neighbor boys riding their bike down my inclined driveway…while Buddy stands at the front door with a ball in his mouth, shaking his head from side to side and growling.
Like my stomach.
Sometimes when I get to working on something that’s fun, I get lost in the day.
That’s what happened. I was taking half a day off my normal fun work so I could piece together a video of last week’s working vacation…grinding tree stumps where my mom lives in Ohio.
I looked up at the time a few minutes ago and realized I should have started writing the blog about five hours ago.
I can’t help it. Sometimes I get sucked into a time warp and come out the other end without realizing how I got there. Dad was like that when he worked on cars in the family garage.
This happens to people who love what they do.
So they do it and do it. And if they’re lucky, someday they start to do it well.
I’m not there yet with video. But I’ll keep working on it. I’ve got another book-related video up next.
Anyway, I wanted to explain why you’re not getting your usual Miller Platter. (Pardon me, but I’m thinking of food.)
However, I will give you a Bible verse to chew on. (Still thinking about food.)
“We were meant to enjoy our work, and that’s the best thing we can do.” Ecclesiastes 3:22
We all spend a lot of time working. If we don’t enjoy it, maybe we should spend a little time looking for something worth doing well.
Now I’m off to make supper. I was going to fry some yellow squash, but it’s too late and I’m too hungry to wait. I’ll raid the fridge and hope for the best.
