WE JUST POSTED JUDGES AND RUTH for the Casual English Bible®—that includes the text and the 3D maps.
And we did it on the new crowd-funded website we launched last week.
We’re working on Isaiah next, not because it follows Ruth but because it’s one of the 10 most popular books in the Old Testament.
We finished the first pass at the New Testament earlier, and it’s now getting checked and polished by a gifted editor. We’ll do the same for the Old Testament.
Until last year, we were releasing the paraphrase first drafts one Bible book at a time. But in recent months, we decided to release them a chapter at a time.
If you go to Isaiah, you’ll see we have the first eight chapters posted. No maps yet. Those usually come later. But sometimes we need a break from the paraphrasing, so we dive into creating a map or two or three. Then back to the paraphrasing, which is Job One in this mission endeavor.
Next Bible video
I’ve been trying to decide what Bible background video to produce next. I was looking into which blog articles of mine are searched most often. At the moment, number one is “Funny-odd Proverbs.”
Well, okay then. That’s the one.
But some of those proverbs are a little iffy in mixed company, and not something we’ll likely hear from a sermon. Proverbs is a collection of wise sayings for young men—advice from dads to their sons, The wisdom is often short enough to fit inside a fortune cookie. And it covers everything from finance to fooling around with another man’s wife, which the dads say could get their young sons killed.
But I guess if it’s in the Bible, I should at least be able to report it without getting into too much trouble. Some, perhaps.
The advice is sometimes phrased in words stark and naked. But it’s usually advice we’re crazy to ignore.
