JESUS: “When someone says bad things about you, say good things about them.” Luke 6:28 Casual English Bible
Sometimes, however, it’s better not to say anything. For example, trying to say something good about:
- Preacher, after a boring sermon: “Nice try. I could tell you wanted it to work.”
- The wife, in a new but ugly dress: “We need to get another couple 100-pound sacks of potatoes. You do such a good job cooking those things.”
- Leach and lazy visiting relative: “It’s such a pleasure having you help out with the work when you visit. I remember that time you carried your dishes to the sink back in 1995, wasn’t it?”
In cases like these, we might want to consider an alternate approach.
“Even a fool looks smart when his mouth is shut.
If he doesn’t say anything, he could actually look intelligent.” Proverbs 17:28 Casual English Bible

Your version of Proverbs 17: 28 was absolutely rude, crude and hysterical. I love it! When will you be done with the Casual Bible? I want to buy a copy for a friend of mine. Your sense of humor is golden.

Thank you, S.
I don’t know when I’ll get done. The Bible is a honkin’ big library of books. I’m on 2 Corinthians, with Romans next. When Romans is done, I will have finished all of Paul’s letters, along with Luke, Acts, and Genesis.
I’ll post each book online as I finish it, and the accompanying leader’s guides and atlases. After Roman, I’ll finish the New Testament and then move into some of the most popular Old Testament books. That’s my plan.
