During a drought in 1847 BC, the century many believed Joseph lived as Pharaoh’s man in charge of grain reserves during a seven-year drought, five nomads showed up starving at an Egyptian fort. “The desert is dying of hunger,” they tell the soldiers. They said they wanted to “serve the Great House,” working for the king so they could eat. Soldiers turned them away. A Visual Walk Through Genesis, page 181.
