“The tree that gives you wisdom to know right from wrong” (Genesis 2:17 CEBT) was lethal. If you eat its fruit, “you”re dead” (Genesis 2:17 CEBT). The Bible doesn’t say what the fruit was or what kind of toxin it carried: physical or spiritual. Adam ate the fruit and lived “to age 930” (Genesis 5:5 CEBT). But maybe he was supposed to live forever, some theorize. Or maybe the death was spiritual, since he lost his link to God. A Visual Walk Through Genesis, page 35.
