New maps for book of Daniel

Stephen M. Miller

PARDON THESE 2 SHORT PLUGS. One for the Bible book of Daniel. One for the Election.

First, we’ll plug Daniel.

I just finished paraphrasing the Bible book of Daniel and releasing PDFs of the Bible maps, charts, and illustrations. I added them to the online paraphrase. You can read the 12 chapters here. And you can look at the maps, charts, and illustrations here and download them as PDFs for $5.

I’ve always had trouble imagining Daniel in a lion’s den. The lion’s den I see in my head is an African cluster of tall brush and thick grass on a plain. But the prophet wasn’t in a lion’s den.  It was more likely just a hole in the ground—a cistern for storing water. Cisterns in that dry land were often empty and sometimes used to store supplies such as grain. But it seems the Persians in what is now Iran used it at least some of the time as an execution chamber.

Here’s where you can see an online flipbook of everything in the Daniel atlas.

To read the full post about Daniel, go to the Casual English Bible’s blog post, just released: Daniel in the lion’s cistern.

Next, we’ll plug the election.

Vote your heart. Pick a heart from Psalms, Proverbs, and Jesus.

“Put a stop to bad stuff from evil people.
Give power to good people,
Because you are a good God,
Expert in head and heart,
Knowing why people do what they do” (Psalm 7:9).

“My heart feels like it’s beating itself to death.
This is killing me” (Psalm 55:4).

“These insults break my heart.
I needed someone to show sympathy.
Not a chance.
I needed someone to comfort me.
Nossir” (Psalm 69:20).

“Don’t let kindness and honesty slip out of your life.
Tie them around your neck if it helps,
but keep them close to your heart” (Proverbs 3:3).

“The LORD detests scheming crooks.
But good people warm his heart and make him feel at home” (Proverbs 3:32).

“Whatever comes out of the mouth comes from the heart. And that’s what has the potential to make a person impure. It’s the heart that can generate evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sex sins, stealing, lying, and slander” (Matthew 15:19).
