OUT OF THANKSGIVING CURIOSITY, I went to the Casual English Bible and typed “thank” into the search bar.
Paul offered a nice assortment of uses of the word from which to choose, depending on your mood.
Angry
“Thank God I didn’t baptize any of you people, except for Crispus and Gaius.”
1 Corinthians 1:14
Not-so-Humble
“I speak in the heavenly language of tongues more than any of you. And I thank God for it.”
1 Corinthians 14:18
All in
“Whatever happens, go ahead and thank God. Remember this: God is in control of your life.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18
Happy
“Thank God, we win. We get to celebrate the victory over sin and death. And it’s all because of our leader, Jesus the Messiah!”
1 Corinthians 15:57
Speechless
“All I can say is ‘Thank you God.’ I have run out of words.”
2 Corinthians 9:15
Me, too.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating the holiday today. Thanks be to God. And peace be to you.
