IT’S TIME FOR JESUS TO DIE AGAIN.
We kill him every year, in a sense. We do it on Good Friday, by remembering what he went through to save us.
We don’t understand why he had to die, or why God couldn’t come up with a better plan. And we’ve very much like to know why.
But Christians do know the story about what the Bible writers say happened to him: Crucifixion.
What most Christians might not know is what Roman writers said about both Jesus and the savage method of execution that they reserved for their worst offenders.
The Romans said a lot.
I created two short videos about it.
- What Roman Said About Crucifixion. You can watch the YouTube version, or the revised and improved version on Vimeo.
- Crucifixion Myth: the Body of Jesus Rotted on the Cross. I created that one in response to Bible critics who said Jesus couldn’t have been taken off the cross and buried because Romans left the dead hanging on the cross to rot, as a warning to others not to mess with Rome.
If you haven’t come across these two videos yet, they might help you see Good Friday in a different way.
