LIKE MANY OF YOU I feel a bit helpless these days.
In our free society, we can’t always stop the bad guys from doing bad things that hurt us.
Nor can we always get the supposedly good guys to do the good things that help us.
Are you reading this, Congress?
We feel stuck in the middle of do-something bad guys and do-nothing good guys.
How shall we pass our time?
Where to start?
Remember what Paul and Silas did when they were stuck in prison?
They sang.
How about we give it a whirl?
For a biblical change of pace.
My soul is in the dumps….
Sometimes I ask God, my rock-solid God,
“Why did you let me down?
Why am I walking around in tears, harassed by enemies?”
They’re out for the kill, these tormentors….
Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul?
Why are you crying the blues?
Fix my eyes on God – soon I’ll be praising again.
He puts a smile on my face.
He’s my God.
– Psalm 42:6, 9-11, The Message
