SEE THE PICTURE OF JERUSALEM? That’s what I’m doing at the moment.
Making maps for the Gospel of Matthew, for the Casual English Bible paraphrase.
This one is a composite image to help folks get an idea about where some of the events took place during the crucifixion of Jesus.
It’s a beta version, still not proofed. My wife hasn’t even had a chance to look at it yet, and she’s my first line of defense.
See what you think.
I’m trying to get Matthew online within the next week or so. I’ve still got to place the text and maps into a leader’s guide. And I still need to upload all 28 chapters onto the website…one verse at a time and one footnote at a time.
Lots of opportunities to make mistakes. So when you catch one, or a dozen, please let me know and I’ll make the corrections. My fingers are inclined to typos.
A surprise for me
The version of the map an hour ago had almost no sky. But for this blog format, I need to use square images if I can. So I turned the map into a square by adding a photo I took of some storm clouds.
Doggone. I like the combo.
These blog articles are good for something after all.
This map is more of a model than a map. The image of Jerusalem is from a huge model of first-century Jerusalem. I added some 3D effects along with landscaping, to help give more perspective to the image.
I know designers could do much better than a word guy. But at the moment, a word guy is what I’ve got to work with.
He gives me time off for the grandkids.

Awesome map Steve. But I’m not convinced the temple mount is the location of the Temple. In due time God will reveal where it is located so I could be totally wrong.

Okay, Dinorah, that made me laugh out loud: I’m da man.
A friend suggested I add a note about where Pilate may have interrogated Jesus. And he wanted the pins numbered in order of the events. So I did it. The new version will show up when I post Matthew live, and when I release the leader’s guide and atlas for Matthew.
