NOT THE SKY FALLING. This is what happens during a solar eclipse when the light drops and the heavy, hand-held camera starts taking three-second exposures. I’m sure a creative preacher could make a theological point about what happens to us when the light leaves us. This is pretty much what the world around us might start to look like, a blurring mess. That suggests a good name for the photo: When the Light is Gone. It’s a cool photo. I should pitch it to my dentist. He needs something better than those odd paintings. But he’s a good dentist. He makes fine crowns.
I SPENT HALF OF ECLIPSE DAY 2024 either getting ready to take pictures or laying on my concrete driveway contending with the steep angle required to shoot the pictures.
That evening I rushed a same-day video to YouTube but not to you, too.
So, here you go.
Not an afterthought, but an after I finished a couple chapters of genealogy in 1 Chronicles. I have to prioritize the paraphrasing if I want to hit my deadline of finishing the Bible draft #1 next year.
Those 1 Chronicles of genealogies are my second-to-least favorite parts of the Bible to paraphrase for the Casual English Bible. Leviticus takes the raisin cake.
Anyway, after a few hours of looking up at the eclipse, I wondered what Bible verses might help me reflect on what I saw in the sky.
Here’s what I found.
GOD SENT HIS SUN
A favor, if I may
I have 5 followers on Spotify for my song, I Will Thank God, He’s My Savior. (A song inspired by the prophet Habakkuk’s final words.)
Everyone knows that 7 is the perfect number, in Bible symbolism. Two of you could perfect the song.
Could we give it a try and see if the song sounds better?
This blew me away
By the way, check out this website that plays songs in a way that makes it easy to see and play the chords. It seems as though it would be very helpful if you play a guitar or a keyboard. It does this for any song out there. I know because it does it for mine. Here’s the link: Chordify.net.
And here’s one website that rates the songs in various ways. Mine gets a zero for “instrumentalness” but 72 for danceability. Here’s the link: Tunebat.

Fun facts:
1. On Spotify’s playlist “Soft Pop Hits of 2024” Justin Bieber’s song Ghost is #2 in the queue. My song is three times more: #222.
2. On Spotify’s playlist “Top Christian Hits 2024” Elevation Worship with Brandon lake, Chris Brown, and Chandler Moore are #5 with Praise. My song is too zeros more: #500.
In my family, my son is the numbers guy. I’ll check with him to see if these are good numbers. Usually big numbers are nice if they’re not on a bill.
