I USED TO WRITE for Mark Galli, now the editor in chief of a magazine founded by Billy Graham, Christianity Today. That was back when Mark edited Christian History magazine. I’ve never been more proud of Mark than I was yesterday when I saw he wrote the editorial titled “Trump Should Be Removed from Office.”
I hope this sends shock waves through the ranks of evangelicals who have been holding their noses at the president’s despicable behavior and tolerating the stink because they approve of some other things he does, like picking judges who track with their agenda.
Time to let go of their noses and inhale the scent of raw sewage rising up out of our nation. This is the smell of immorality.
Here are some lines of Mark’s editorial in one of Christianity’s leading conservative magazines.
The facts in this instance are unambiguous: The president of the United States attempted to use his political power to coerce a foreign leader to harass and discredit one of the president’s political opponents. That is not only a violation of the Constitution; more importantly, it is profoundly immoral…
This president has dumbed down the idea of morality in his administration. He has hired and fired a number of people who are now convicted criminals. He himself has admitted to immoral actions in business and his relationship with women, about which he remains proud. His Twitter feed alone—with its habitual string of mischaracterizations, lies, and slanders—is a near perfect example of a human being who is morally lost and confused. Christianity Today
I agree with Mark when he says the magazine he edits prefers to “stay above the fray and allow Christians with different political convictions to make their arguments in the public square.”
I hate writing political stuff. Hate it.
But enough is enough.
Earlier this week I did something I’ve never felt compelled to do before. I protested with a sign that said, “No one is above the law.” I am no longer an activist virgin. I gave it up for Mr. Trump.
A seminary friend of mine chastised me by saying,
God has been in the habit of using very flawed people for his purposes. President Trump is not beyond being used by God for his purposes.
I replied, that God is no fan of sin. And I added this, from Paul’s last known letter before his execution.
“If we turn our back on him,
He’ll turn his back on us.He won’t fail to do what is right.
He can’t change who he is.Remind the people about all of this. And give them this command, with God watching: Stop fighting over mere words. It’s good for nothing but demolishing the faith of the people listening.
Work hard at what you’re doing. Then one day stand before God as a worker with nothing to be ashamed of because you got the Good News right—in the words you spoke and in the way you lived.
Step away from senseless yap, yap, yapping. All it does is drag people down.”

We’ve been patient with the president long enough. It’s time to take a stand against his many sins or to stop enabling his mental illness if that is a source of his thoroughly selfish behavior that seems void of concern for anyone but himself.
He’s hurting himself and he’s hurting others. The damage he has already done to people, especially people who aren’t white-skinned, will linger for their lifetime.
We need to put a stop to this. He should be removed from office.

It is about time evangelical Christians took a stand for all that is good and true. ABOUT TIME.
What took so long? It’s not a secret that President Trump has not been the kind of Christian leader we desperately need in our country.
I’ve spoken out against Trump even while he was a candidate. “Wanted: godly political leader,” Nov 8, 2016, for example.
I was shocked that almost half the country would vote for an admitted sexual predator.
In a list of arguments against him, I would lead with him grabbing lady genitalia and bragging about it. Then I would wonder why I had to say anything more.
To me, he seems mentally ill. But I’m not a shrink. But I can read a Mayo Clinic checklist describing signs of personality disorders.
If he’s not mentally ill, his behavior reveals a man who is spiritually lost in sinful habits. He needs help, which must begin with removing him from office.
AMEN!!! My Heart Has Been Broken Time and Time again! I Pray Every Moment of each new day. I Thank God, For He will never FORSAKE Us! My Prayers go beyond, for this world needs It. I applaud you and Christianity Today as well. I was shocked by the man as a candidate and horrified that he became President. I was more than shocked and more than horrified when we learned American Evangelicals supported AND CONTINUE TO SUPPORT him in such huge numbers. We have seen what this support for immorality has done to Christianity. We see the numbers of avowed atheists and agnostics growing, the unchurched are growing more rapidly than the believers, our children are falling away in droves. I credit a lot of this to the abandonment of principles by the Christian Right. Thank you for your stand and, for what it’s worth, I stand with you.

Politics in the US is so violent – two tribes in open warfare aided and abetted by their allies in the media. The protest time could have been better spent praying for the US and God’s plan for the world.
Trump takes the vitriol of politics to a new level. Don’t presume there were no prayers. But sometimes we have to put feet to our prayers. In a Republic democracy, it’s not the politicians who guide the nation. We The People determine where we want to go. When a political leaders steps out of line, we deal with that person one way or another. We can ignore him and let it go on. We can vote him out of office. Or when the corruption or misbehavior is sufficient, we impeach and remove from office. As a nation, we’re at the point of determining which way we want to go. Peace to you.
Here I am again.I keep hearing about how flawed people are. I do not consider myself flawed for I am wonderfully made by God. Certainly I am not perfect but God provded me with the freedom to make choices. I do not always make the right choice and as the Bible says “We’ve all sinned and come short of the glory of God.”I’m thankful we have a forgiving God. Our President needs to take responsibility for what he says and does for he chooses this way of life and even seems to enjoy it. I think he knows it’s wrong but I also think he does it because he thinks it’s the way to win. Just look at the rallys and the people who go along with him. Why?
If Trump needs to be removed from office they shouldn’t Obama been removed many times over?
I don’t think President Obama tried to extort an ally by withholding Congress-approved taxpayer money in exchange for agreeing to harass the president’s chief opponent in the upcoming election. And there is the host of other illegal behavior, such as inviting Russia and China to help him cheat the voters and by being an admitted sexual predator who grabs women and has settled court cases charging him with rape and is facing current charges for the same. Clinton was impeached for a lesser offence. Trump has a long rap sheet of illegal behavior. And he’s unrepentant of anything.

Trump could field two football teams.
One of women who have charged him or are now suing him or have been paid off by him for what they say was raping them or otherwise sexually attacking them. He is an admitted sexual predator who brags about grabbing women at will.
Another team: close administrative associates in prison, under indictment, or who have pled guilty of criminal behavior during or following Trump’s campaign.
That’s the tip of the iceberg. No one is without sin. Trump seems to have perfected it and is in the running with Satan for the title of Father of Lies.
It troubles me to see Christian people enabling remarkably corrupt leaders in several leading democratic nations of the world. The last time we saw this kind of sudden, international My-Country-First movement led by autocrat-wannabes was in Europe in the 1930s and 40s. That didn’t go well. My dad lost buddies in the fight to get the world back to some semblance of normalcy.
This is a shameful time for our country and for Christianity in America, I believe.
We broke it. We can fix it. May God’s Spirit show us how, one soul at a time.
